Byron Bay

With its numerous beaches, unspoiled hinterland, and relaxed lifestyle, Byron Bay is a popular tourist destination in Australia.

Byron Bay is located on the northern coast of NSW in the Northern Rivers region, just off the Pacific Highway, about 800kms north of Sydney and about 175 kms south of Brisbane. It is a gorgeous 30 km stretch of sandy beaches with a small town of the same name at one end. It is an important Centre for alternate living with extremely diverse cultures and has world famous surfing beaches. Beaches can be found on either side of the town and there are numerous rocky headlands providing perfect vantage points and ideal fishing platforms. Some local points and beaches are considered by surfers to be some of the best surfing beaches in the area. The water is crystal clear and you might see small fishes swimming by. Humpbacked whales regularly migrate in August back to Antarctica, if you are here around that time, you might see them. Off the beaches Byron Bay tourism offers many cultural attractions such as the weekly markets, a vibrant shopping area, local music festivals. Overall it is a laid back place, popular with those seeking an alternative lifestyle.
