The Great Ocean Road in Australia is one of the most spectacular scenic ocean drives in the world and has been recognized as one of the greatest travel experiences in the World. It was built between 1919 and 1932 as a memorial to the Australian soldiers who gave their lives in World War I. It stretches for 285km between Warrnambool and Toequay, excavated manually along the mountainous and heavily forested coastlines.

The Great Ocean Road - Australia,  follows the coastline through the Surf Coast , Shipwreck Coast and the Otways. The Shipwreck coast is a spectacular stretch of rugged Australia coastline upon which at least 80 ships have come to grief. Start your journey in Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula and discover beautiful beaches, great eateries, a fascinating heritage and an enormous range of recreational opportunities from fishing and golfing to diving and surfing. The road in Australia passes along the coastline giving stunning views. Along with mesmerizing views, wildlife and birdlife is also abundant here. You could see Australian wallabies, Kangaroos and echidnas along with king parrots, eastern rosellas, galahs, grey thrush, blue wrens and wedge tailed eagles in their native habitats.

The Twelve Apostles:
The violently stormy weather, ocean waves and high winds have lead to the formation of a amazing collection of rock sculptures like the famous Twelve Apostles. These vast limestone stacks were once part of the shoreline cliffs but over time due to erosion, they got separated from the cliffs and stand alone looming upwards from the swirling waters of the southern ocean floor. These giant rock stacks are a central feature of the spectacular Port Campbell National park. While anytime of the day provides great views, sunrise and sunset are particularly impressive for the blazing hues created. You can get there by driving from Torquay to Warrnambool.

Popular tourism attractions:
The Twelve Apostles of Australia, lake Corangamite and the Princess Margaret Rose caves.

Accommodation:
There are outstanding accommodation places along the Great Ocean Road - Australia,  with a choice that includes hotels, motels, caravan parks, camping grounds, bed and breakfasts and host farms.

Tip of the day
Tip #13. Don't put all your money in one place, split your spending money in different pockets. This way, if you are pick-pocketed, you will always have money.
