The Whitsunday Islands - Australia

The Whitsunday Islands in Australia are 74 islands floating like jewels in the tropical warm waters of the Coral Sea fringed by magnificent reef formations. Whitsunday  islands lie just off Queensland's coast and are perfectly situated for exploring one of the great marvels of the world, the Great Barrier Reef. From the legendary sailing here to diving, snorkeling, or hiking through the local rainforest, there is adventure in abundance at this beautiful getaway. There are plenty of day cruises that start from different places on the islands that take you to the best places on the reef for scuba diving and snorkeling. Whitsunday Tourism Activities:
The Whitsundays is the boat hire and yacht charter capital of Australia. Along with this there are several other activities here - bungee jumping, Parasailing, water ski, scuba diving and much more. There is something for all age groups at Whitsunday islands. You will find great white beaches, secluded bays, dense green pine forests and spectacular marine life that will mesmerize you. Between June and September is a good time for whale watching.

Whitsunday Popular islands:

However, flowing are some the most popular tourist Islands - Bedarra Island, Brampton Island, Carlisle Island, Cumberland Island Group, Daydream Island, Hamilton Island, Hayman Island, Hook Island, Keswick Island, Lindeman Island, Long Island, South Molle Island, St Bees Island. Some of these Whitsunday islands have been heavily developed to cater to tourism. The expensive resort at Haymand Island is believed to have cost $300 million. However, there are ample of accommodation options here, ranging from economical to luxury resorts and hotels.

Getting there:
Fly to Proserpine on the mainland, or from Sydney to Great Barrier Reef airport (Hamilton Island), or from Shutehaven to Brisbane by a ferry boat.
