Lake Shasta & Caverns

Lake Shasta Caverns is located along Lake Shasta in Northern California north of Redding. Tours are available to visit the Shasta Caverns, tour station is located in the region called O'Brien. The tour is a three in one adventure including a 15 minutes cruise across the Shasta lake surrounded by majestic mountains, then a 10 minutes scenic bus ride up to the Caverns and an hour guided tour around the Caverns. Inside, visitors get an up-close view of rock formations that took 200 million years in the making. From tiny cave coral, cave drapery, flow stone, to magnificent stalagmites, stalactites, and columns, there is endless beauty here.

Opened to the public in 1964, the Caverns are on privately owned land but the land used for access roads, parking, reception centers, and boat docks is under a U.S. Government lease through the Shasta-Trinity National Forest.

Tip of the day
Tip 14#. Cell phone is probably your best friend in a new place. Get an unlocked cell phone which works with international frequencies. Your domestic phone company may sometime lock the phone so its good only in their network, sometimes your own phone company will have a international roaming, call them before you go. You may visit http://www.telestial.com to buy a SIM card of the country before you visit which is a cheaper option. Mostly you can buy a basic phone and sim card within $100-$150.
