Lake Shasta Caverns is located along Lake Shasta in Northern California north of
Redding. Tours are available to visit the Shasta Caverns, tour station is
located in the region called O'Brien. The tour is a three in one adventure
including a 15 minutes cruise across the Shasta lake surrounded by majestic
mountains, then a 10 minutes scenic bus ride up to the Caverns and an hour
guided tour around the Caverns. Inside, visitors get an up-close view of rock
formations that took 200 million years in the making. From tiny cave coral, cave
drapery, flow stone, to magnificent stalagmites, stalactites, and columns, there
is endless beauty here.
Opened to the public in 1964, the Caverns are on privately owned land but the land used for access roads, parking, reception centers, and boat docks is under a U.S. Government lease through the Shasta-Trinity National Forest.
