The Lombard Street of San Francisco is the most crooked (most winding) street of America and is a popular tourist attraction due to its location and unusual sharp curves. Paved with bricks, it is a steep, hilly street with Victorian mansions on either side. Thousands of tourists come here every year to see this popular street. It has eight sharp turns and built on a 40-degree slope. Watching cars going down this Crooked Street has become a popular tourist attraction. Surprisingly, some of the most expensive and classy Real Estate of the city exists on the Lombard Street.




Lombard Street of San Francisco AttractionsLombard Street lies between Hyde and Leavenworth streets of San Francisco and only a small part of it is crooked but most of it is quite steep and breathtaking. A lot of tourists like to drive down this adventurous street, it is specially loved by children. The crooked street is so steep that once you reach the top of the street, you get the feeling of falling off the cliff since you will not be able to see the pavement ahead. Since it is a very photogenic street, taking pictures of the street is a must for all the visitors. The best place to photograph Lombard Street is from the bottom of the crooked street, looking upwards. Along with being the most Crooked Street, Lombard Street continues in both directions, going all the way east to Coit Tower, and continuing west down through the Marina, where it becomes the main route to the Golden Gate Bridge.

If you are not comfortable driving yourself then it is a good idea to take the Powel-Hyde cable car since it stops at the top. You get an amazing view from there and then you can walk down to the Leavenworth Street and take some pictures from the bottom. Again there are several streets around Lombard Street which have steep slopes like Filbert street 31° slope. Make sure your vehicle breaks and overall condition is good. Its free and no reservation is required.
