Rated as one of the best places in Los Angeles for family entertainment, the Universal Studios of Los Angeles began offering tours to the public in 1964 and became one of the largest amusement parks of the world along with being one of the largest movie studios. The most popular attraction here is the one hour guided tour of the studio which is done through a tram ride around 420 acres. It takes people to the back stage including the dressing rooms of the stars, production offices and much more. Though there might be some wait to board the tram but it is definitely worth waiting for. The other attractions here are the various rides which are based on various Hollywood movies like - Revenge of the Mummy, Back to the Future, Jurassic Park, Terminator 2, Shrek 4-D.
Along with the rides there are several live shows that are performed daily at the Universal Studios. "Waterworld" is a fast paced outdoor theater presentation featuring stunts and special effects performed on and around a man made Lagoon. "Animal Planet Live" stars trained animals performing various tricks and stunts. In "Backdraft" guests are moved from theater to theater with realistic ruptured fuel lines, melting metal and scorching warehouse scenes. "Spider-Man Rocks" is a musical show with songs, dance, noises and pyrotechnics.
Other Universal Studios are in Orlando (Florida, USA) and Osaka (Japan). Additional spots in the world where Universal Studios are planned include Singapore, Dubai and South Korea. Universal offers tours of its studio and you will also see a number of costumed characters (like Marx Brothers, Marilyn Monroe etc..) roaming the park grounds. Cartoon characters like Sponge Bob, Shrek, Nickelodeon, Simpsons and many others can also be seen and you can always take pictures with them.
