DALI - China
It is famous for its amazing natural beauty, history, culture and comfortable
climate, attracting tourists from all over the world. As a result, the area is
known as the "Pearl of the Yunan Plateau". Dali has a unique plateau climate,
which is spring like all the year round making it a great travel destination. Dali is located in the center of Yunan
and covers an area of 1,468 square km with a population of apx. 480,000 people
of more than 18 ethnic groups. The unique attractions of Dali are Diancang
Mountains and Erhai Lake, a bright pearl on the plateau.
Dali Attractions:
- Erhai lake in Dali is one the seven largest fresh water lakes in China. The meaning of its name is 'Sea shaped like a ear'. On a sunny day, its crystal waters reflect the snow-capped Cangshan Mountain in the distance. Erhai lake is unique among all the China attractions.
- The three Pagodas also known as Santasi, lie north west of ancient Dali, at the foot Mt. Sangshan and have a history of over 1'800 years. The biggest Pagoda is 72 meters high and is built out of 16 layers. Their triangular placement is unique in China.
- Dali Bowuguan is a Dali Museum, decorated in an old Soviet style. The museum is home to 8th to 10th century bronze, ceramics and marble. It is an interesting place to visit.
- Yangren Jie meaning 'foreigners street' is another interesting place for Dali travel since it has a lot of western style restaurants and souvenir shops. This street also consists of traditional Chinese food and delicacies.
