Rangiroa Tourism
Located in French Polynesia, it is one of the most popular Tuamotu Islands and lies
200km north of Tahiti. It is also known as Rairoa, meaning "long sky" and is an
archipelago of 78 low islands or coral atolls spread over the eastern pacific,
home to 42 mile long and 16 mile wide turquoise Lagoon.
Rangiroa is the largest atoll in Polynesia and the second largest in the world with more than 220 motus or islets that are separated by a large number of shallow channels and three passes. The incomparable brilliance and colors of the lagoon from jade green to purple, completely overwhelm the visitors to Rangiroa. In order to enjoy this beauty to the fullest, take a Lagoon cruise in a glass bottomed boat. Rangiroa Lagoon is also world famous for its snorkeling and scuba diving. Outside the reef there are breathtaking large species along the walls of the drop-offs, including squadrons of eagle rays and schools of sharks, barracuda and tuna.
The bird sanctuary on Motu Paio or one of the many working pearl farms are a must see during Rangiroa Tourism. Getting here is easy, you can fly from Tahiti or Bora Bora. The accommodation here is limited to a lovely 5 star hotel near the main village or a paradise on a remote Lagoon islet consisting of five beach bungalows hidden by the palm trees.
