Mobay or Montego Bay tourism:
Montego Bay is the main tourist destination of Jamaica and is located on the
northwest coast of the country, in the islands popular 'Riviera' area. Montego
Bay is famous for its spectacular 16 km shoreline and beaches. It offers
opportunities for rest and relaxation as well as active exploration. You will
also find coral reefs and aquamarine blue lagoons in Montego Bay.
The accommodation options range from economical lodges to premium resorts, there
is something for every budget and lots of activities to do. Montego Bay is
backed by green hills shrouded in banana, palms, sugar cane, and lush tropical
vegetation.
USEFUL TIP:
Columbus was the first European to come here in 1494. Few Montego Bay's public
beaches are not so popular among tourists due to hustlers, tourist authorities
have recently been checking this activity and there is an improvement.
Additionally there are many other options available where tourists pay a small
fee (example - $5 for Doctors Cave Beach) and can enjoy the perfect ambience
required to enjoy.

Blue Caribbean sea:
Montego Bay tourism offers incredible blue and the azure crystal clear waters and pure white sand beaches which makes it one of the most beautiful tourist coastline ones in the world. Simply sitting here and watching these waters or swimming is quite entertaining and relaxing.
Doctor's Cave Beach:
This is one of the most beautiful beaches in Montego Bay. It is located on the popular Gloucester Avenue and has many gift shops, showers, changing rooms and beach bar.
Montego Bay Marine Park:
Located in close to Montego Bay it covers a large coastline and protects some of Jamaica’s best coral reefs and marine resources. This place is great for scuba diving, water activities and fishing, there are several zones inside the park each specializing in a group of activities. Few Private operators run undersea submersible tours of the reefs. Fort Montego:
This fort is behind Walter fletcher beach with its canons to protect the fort. There is a small crafts and market in the front of fort where some good authentic products can be found. It is a good starting point for your walking tour.
Rose Hall:
It is a popular tourist destination and setting of the legend of the White Witch. It is believed that a beautiful seventeen year old woman Annie Palmer of Irish descent who came here in early 19th century married John Palmer the architect of the Great House at Rose Hall. Annie’s marriage was too tiresome for her and started loving a young slave. When John Palmer found about it he beat her severely and in return Annie killed her husband by poisoning him. She then married and killed two more people and eventually got murdered in 1831. Her ghost is still supposed to haunt the Great House. There is little evidence to support the legend. A tour guide will take you around and will show important things of this place and tell interesting stories.
Coffee and Pineapple production tours in Montego Bay:
Croydon Plantation Tour: You can capture the flavor of Jamaica while strolling through this tropical paradise. Taste the exotic and delicious fruits and drinks made from them. Taste the different varieties of pineapples and citrus, or sweet juicy sugarcane. The three hour long guided tours is a must-see for every visitor. While walking through these coffee groves a tour guide will explain the secrets of coffee cultivation and processing.
Bob Marley Experience:
Bob Marley was Jamaica’s legendary reggae superstar. Located in Half Moon Shopping village, this place has a theatre and memorabilia store complex. Every hour a free screening of a special documentary on Marley’s life and music takes place in this wide screen theatre. Admission is free.
Rocklands Bird Sanctuary, Montego Bay:
A variety of colorful birds, it also has a feeding Station where visitors get to feed these colorful feathered creatures by hand. Located just south of Montego Bay, here you will see a variety of birds like hummingbirds, coral, white flamingoes and many others.
Sam Sharpe Square:
Named after national hero Sam Sharpe, this Cobblestone square is in Montego Bay. It features the Cage, which used to be a jail for runaway slaves.
Falmouth:
The port town of Falmouth lies on the north coast of Jamaica /Montego Bay. Popular things to see include
- Water Square - this is a large, spacious plaza at the east end of Falmouth
- Albert George Shopping & Historical Centre - a sall market thriving with little handicrafts stores.
- Phoenix Foundry & Central Wharf, William Knibb Memorial Church, Tharp House
Also in the area of Falmouth are a crocodile farm and the Greenwood Great House.
Widowmaker's Cave:
This underwater cave is one of the most popular destinations for divers.
The Centerstage Theatre: A family-oriented musicals in patois. Located on Dominica Drive, New Kingston.
Cornwall Beach: It has a protected underwater marine park, where you can enjoy snorkeling or scuba diving.
OTHER POPULAR ACTIVITIES:
White water rafting: Several companies offer rafting trips from Montego Bay. You can either select the Jamaica's fast-paced canyon rivers or just the calm waters.
Crafts Market: You can find some great deals in these craft markets. The popular one is located appropriately on Market Street and bargaining is common. Another good place to shop for arts is the Gallery of West Indian Art on Fairfield Road.
The Annual Reggae Sumfest in late July, at the Bob Marley Performing Center where you can enjoy carnivals and special events. Another one is the Pineapple Cup-Montego Bay Yacht Race which happens every other year.
CRUISE:
There are several short and long cruises that stop at Montego bay. You can also decide to take the local sunset cruises which offer most romantic and peaceful sunset views you will ever experience. There is an endless choice of cuisine to please all tastes and budgets.
GOLF:
Enjoy golf during Montego Bay tourism. Four championship courses near the sea are practically within a wedge shot of each other. Ironshore Golf & Country Club, Half Moon Golf, Tennis & Beach Club and Wyndam Rose Hall Country Club are in the same vicinity , east of Montego Bay. These golf courses have hosted several international golf tournaments. Montego Bay tourism has been popular among visitors over fifty (50) years.
