Yhr famous Tsavo National park is a huge park covering an area of about 21,000 square km.
It is popular for its wide variety of animal and plant species. There are more than 60 mammal species and over 1000 plant species. You will also find the lugard falls whose water makes its way out from the beautiful rock formations. The natural volcanic springs of Mzima produce 50 million of fresh water daily. Tsavo is the largest national park in Kenya and one of the largest in the world. It is also the most popular destination for tourists seeking African safari. It was established in 1948 and governed by Kenya wildlife service.

Because of its huge size, for better administration purpose the park is divided into two regions - Tsavo West and Tsavo East. by the Nairobi-Mombasa highway. The park is famous for its high concentration of lions and elephants. The rangers and guide coordinate to help tourists to enjoy this African safari, once a lion is sighted, the jeeps speed off in the hot pursuit. Once the pride is seen relaxing in this sun belt the tourists take out their cameras to film these majestic lions. All the "Big Five" mammals are found here, that is the Lion, African elephant, African buffalo, leopard and Black rhinoceros. The park offers unforgiving arid plain lands and volcanic landscape. Tasve west is smaller but more popular among the tourists and offers a wide range of wildlife. Tasvo East is lesser visited and only the southern area of the park is open for the visitors. Sightings of animals is best in May, June and November. The northern part of Tsavo West is the most developed and has spectacular scenery with a rolling volcanic landscape carpeted in long grass and dense bush. Although the tall vegetation makes game spotting trickier than in some of the other parks, the big five are in residence along with a fine collection of antelope. The main attraction of the park are the two watering holes, where lodges have been built which more or less guarantee that their guests will be treated to fabulous game viewing. Around the Mzima springs there are excellent views of Nile crocodiles, zebra, gazelles and rhinos. Tsavo National park in Kenya is popular for its travel and tourism.

Droughts are much more common in Tsavo East than West, and Aruba Dam built in 1952 has dried up completely. This wildernesses inhabited by a wide range of animals including zebra, several species of antelope among them lesser kudu and hartebeest, warthog and ostrich as well as elephant herds which plunder their way through bush and scrub to the permanent waters of the Athi.
