Lixus is located on the bank of the Loukkos River north of the modern seaport of Larache and famous for its ruins of Roman imperial outpost. Most of the ruins are still unexcavated. It is located on the Tchemmich hill 80 meters from the north bank of the river.

This city is famous for salt, garum and fish processing. Unfortunately this place ignored has led to the slow destruction of ruins. There is almost no check on who can come here and you can even find shepherd take their herd grazing their goats through these ruins. Lixus (Morocco) was settled by the Phoenicians in the 7th century BC . Town was small in size but does have a nice bath, temples and walls. The mosaics remain largely intact although a few of them did get damaged. There is a Christian basilica at the center of Lixis.

Tip of the day
Tip 19#. Don't leave home without a copy of your important medical records. Things you may be allergic to. Small things like the power of your eye glasses can be very helpful when you need them most, infact carry an additional set of eye glasses.
