The Underwater world in Sentosa is a unique tourism experience presenting an in
depth view of the marine life. It consists of 2,500 fishes from 250 different
species and from many places around the world. It showcases a variety of corals,
fascinating fishes and the best of all is the marvelous 83-meter long
transparent acrylic tunnel (travelator) in which passes through a huge
aquarium. The visitors get a chance to walk through this tunnel and get a three
dimensional view of marine life all around them in a natural environment. You
will find the sharks, stingrays, eels and groups of fishes swimming all
around. The Underwater world is also a place for conservation of marine life
including the endangered turtle species and corals. The Touch Pool
allows tourists to touch starfish, stingrays and baby sharks. Stingray
feeding pool is also a popular attraction. Underwater World is also involved in
environmental and educational projects.
The entrance fee of SGD19.50 includes the admission to Dolphin Lagoon. Premium water world experiences include 'Dive with the Sharks', 'Dive With Dugong', but guests are requested to get their booking done in advance.
There are several free shows of turtles (Green and Hawksbill turtles) and fish feeding. Living Fossils displays a variety of marine species that have survived millions of years of evolution. It also has Singapore's first fish reflexology spa, where two species of doctor fish gently nibble away at the dead skin on visitors' feet.
Marine life found here includes:
Butterfly fish, seahorses, weedy sea dragon, dragon sharks, turtles, arapaima fish, stingray, banner fish, cuttlefish, damselfish, sergeant major, jellyfish, eagle rays, leopard shark, hump head wrasse, nurse shark, giant grouper, white-tip reef shark, moray eel angelfish, snails, quid, sea dragon, crabs (rainbow, coconut , vinegar and Japanese spider crabs) and octopus. Underwater World's latest exhibit - Singapore Wetlands, include a variety of freshwater and estuarine creatures such as the Oriental Small-Clawed Otter, Monitor Lizard, Mangrove Horseshoe Crab, Archerfish, Mud Crab, Mudskipper and sea Turtle.
