The soil is so rich, they use about a tenth the amount of fertilizer that European farmers do. Stellenbosch is also the second oldest town of South Africa, a great many attractive buildings, including an excellent Museum. The Cape Wine Academy in Stellenbosch offers visitors a wonderful opportunity of learning about local and international wines. Paarl is home to several small museums and the wine cellars. Franschhoek originally hosted refugee Huguenots from France, who brought their wine-growing skills to South Africa also has Huguenot Museum. Many of the vineyards also make cheese, or grow olives and press oil, so there's a lot more than South Africa wine.
