The astronomer-King Sawai Jai Singh II, one of the supreme rulers of the Kachhawaha clan recognized his new capital in Jaipur in 1727, when he decided to shift his seat of power from Amer, 11 km northeast of the new metropolitan. planned by a young Bengali architect, Vidhyadhar Bhattacharya, the city was a marvel of town scheduling with separate sectors being earmarked for craftsmen and merchants. A formidable protective wall with seven gates girdled the intact city. The city was intended to conform to a geometric grid instead of the nine division of the universe.

Amber Fort:
Amber (well-defined Amer) is located about 11 kilometers from Jaipur and was the ancient fortress of the decision Kachhawa clan of Amber, before the capital was shifted in the plains to present day Jaipur. The Amber Fort set in picturesque and rugged hills is a fascinating blend of Hindu and Mughal architecture. Constructed by Raja Man Singh I in 1952 and completed by Sawai Jai Singh I the fort is finished in red rub down stone and white marble.
The strong forbidding exterior belies an inner ecstasy with a handsome fusion of art and architecture. Amber is the characteristic and romantic fort- palace with a wonderful aura. The interior wall of the palace depicts expressive painting scenes with carvings, precious stones and mirror settings. In the foreground is the Maota Lake provided that a breathtaking look.
