Considering the cost of the holiday all of the above have to be worthwhile. Membership of a breakdown service such as the AA, RAC or Greenflag is also strongly recommended. When planning the journey consider the following:
Check your tickets and make sure you have the correct departure and check in times.
Also, airlines shut their check-in desks usually 30 to 40 minutes before departure. Once this deadline is reached late arrivals will not be allowed to fly. Some internal flights however may stay open up to 20 minutes before departure. Make sure you check with your airline.
Always add on at least an hour for your journey to overcome any vehicle problems and if you are going to be travelling at rush hour add another hour. Monday and Friday traffic is usually heavier with long stay commuters returning or coming from home for the weekend.

If you are travelling to Manchester, Gatwick, Heathrow, Stansted, Luton, Glasgow or Birmingham Airport traffic between the hours of 07.00 to 09.30 and 0.400 to 06.30 can be very heavy. You must always remember that your journey from the airport car park will also have to travel in these conditions.
